Who we are

Arcana Sky is an independent website operated from the United Kingdom by a private publisher. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for this site, and you can reach us at hello@arcanasky.com.

What we collect

You do not need an account to use Arcana Sky, and we do not ask for your name, email address or date of birth. Readings are generated in your browser and are not saved to your identity. Like almost all websites, our hosting provider processes standard technical request data such as IP address, browser type and requested page in order to serve the site securely.

Cookies and advertising

Arcana Sky is supported by advertising served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Other third-party vendors and ad networks appearing through AdSense may also use cookies or similar technologies.

You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and opt out of personalised advertising at google.com/settings/ads. You can also manage or block third-party cookies through your browser settings.

Visitors in the United Kingdom and the EEA are shown a consent message before personalised advertising cookies are set, and can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the consent controls on the site.

Browser storage

The site uses your browser's own storage for two small, non-tracking purposes: a sessionStorage entry that keeps your in-progress reading if you open a card page and come back, cleared when you close the tab, and a localStorage entry that remembers you dismissed the “add to home screen” banner. We also store a random, anonymous device token in localStorage, plus any interpretation you have generated and any readings you choose to save to your on-device journal. The token is sent with a whole-spread interpretation request purely to apply a daily fair-use limit; we log only that token, a hash of the cards drawn and the time. None of this identifies you, and your typed question is never stored against you.

Your reading journal is kept in this browser, under a single localStorage key. Unless you choose to create an account, it is never uploaded, never linked to anyone and disappears if you clear your browsing data; the export and import buttons let you move it between devices yourself. The daily-card streak is stored the same way: a small record of the last date you drew a card and how many consecutive days you have visited. Share images are drawn on your device and are never sent anywhere.

Optional accounts

You never need an account. Readings, card meanings and the journal all work signed out. If you choose to create a free account, we store only your email address, the display name you give us, your date of birth and the star sign derived from it — plus any readings you sync (the spread, your question, the cards drawn, any interpretation and your own notes).

We use this solely to sign you in, to confirm you are 18 or over as our terms require, and to keep your journal on every device you sign in on. The lawful basis is your consent for the account itself and our legitimate interest in keeping the service age-appropriate and secure. We send no marketing email; only account emails such as confirmation, sign-in links and password resets, delivered through our email provider on our behalf.

We keep this data until you delete your account. You can download everything we hold as a JSON file, or delete your account and every synced reading immediately, from your profile page. Deletion is permanent.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful, in aggregate. This is never used to identify you individually.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to certain processing. If you use the site without an account there is simply nothing held about you to retrieve. If you have an account, the export and delete buttons on your profile page give you those rights instantly, and you can always contact us instead.

Children

This site is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site develops. Material changes will be reflected on this page. See also our disclaimer and terms of use.
