When to draw a birthday spread
Traditionally this reading is laid on the day itself, but the week either side works just as well. What matters is the intention: you are marking the turn of a personal year rather than asking about a single problem. Sit with it somewhere quiet, and give the first card a little longer than the rest — it colours everything that follows.
Reading the seven positions together
Cards two and three are a pair: what closes and what opens usually describe the same change from two sides. Cards four, five and six are the working year — the lesson, the strength and the pitfall — and they often argue with each other, which is the point. The final card is the one to write down and keep somewhere you will see it.
Reversed cards in a year-ahead reading
